Every team of paranormal investigators needs equipment in order to capture evidence of paranormal activity. Although no equipment is needed to have unearthly experiences, some equipment is necessary to perform a thorough investigation and to scientifically differentiate the normal from the paranormal. Here are some of the equipment that The Phantom Tribe uses during investigations.
Digital Cameras
One of the better pieces of evidence that can be obtained is a photograph of an actual spirit. On every investigation we take many pictures in hopes of catching a ghost on camera that would be undeniable in terms of paranormal activity.
Digital Voice Recorders
Every paranormal team should invest in a digital voice recorder. During an investigation, we always have one of our recorders running. Even if a spirit is not heard during an investigation it is possible that during review of the evidence a disembodied voice can be heard, this is called an EVP or Electronic Voice Phenomena.
Camcorder with Night Vision
The absolute best piece of evidence any paranormal team can get is the actual video recording of a spirit. A good thing to have with a camcorder is night vision and extra infrared LED lights to attach to the camcorder. Although it is rare to capture a video we always travel with our camcorder hoping that we will capture this great evidence.
K II Meter
A K II meter is a device that detects the ranges of electromagnetic fields in whatever area it is used. The idea is that spirits disrupt the electromagnetic fiele wherever it is present and therefore can be detected by the K II meter. A spirit is considered to be comprised of energy. This energy can disrupt the field by it absorbing the energy around it, hence the idea of cold spots. If there is no energy in an area then that area becomes cold. This device can be used to detect the spirit or it can even communicate with the spirit with yes or no responses using the lights on the K II meter.
EMF Detector
EMF Detectors are a scientific instrument for measuring electromagnetic fields. A common theory is that when a spirit is present it will disrupt this field in a way that you will be able to tell by an abnormally high EMF reading. If a high reading is gotten and all other sources that can account for a high EMF reading are ruled out then it is a good sign of paranormal activity.
Thermometer
A non contact infrared laser thermometer is a great tool to have on an investigation. This tool is used as a detection device for spirits. If a temperature drop of ten or more degrees is noticed then that could be an indication of a spirit.
Flashlights
A lot of investigating is done at night or in the dark and then would only make sense to have good flashlights with you at all times.
Parabolic Microphone
Dowsing Rods
Spirits give off energy and in theory their energy can cause the rods to either cross or uncross. Communication with a spirit can be done by asking a question with a yes or no response with crossing inward being no and moving outward being yes. A good way to check that the rods moving is paranormal activity is to keep an EMF reader by the rods and checking the EMF levels surrounding the rods. The stronger the energy of the spirit, the more the rods will move.
2-Way Radios
2-way radios or walkie talkies are a good way to keep in touch with your team in a large area or to rotate groups during an investigation.
